Waxman-Markey Passes
This evening the U.S. House passed the most comprehensive climate and energy bill in history. For all of those of you who made phone calls today and lobbyed for months we appreciate it.
The bill most still go to the U.S. Senate and Conference Committee but this was the first big hurdle.
Read more about the bill from the Washington Post.

What we need to get everyone to understand is you MUST conserve before you generate. The most cost effective and energy efficient way is to air seal and insulate a building or home. Government must give better incentives to conserve and not worry so much about generating just yet. If you are generating electricity for a leaky house, you must generate twice as much as you would have to if the house were a tight envelope via air sealing, insulation, air ducts, hvac and windows. Solar is the least cost effective way of helping our planet.

We appreciate the feed back. The bill definitely has its ups and its downs. You might be interested in the Thomas Friedman’s recent column on it. You can check it out at http://www.nytimes.com it addresses the non-sense in this bill with some interesting ideas about the need for it.
