Habitat for Humanity & Energy Star Homes

National Partnership to Fund ENERGY STAR Homes The Home Depot Foundation and Habitat for Humanity join forces in $30 million green building initiative Partners in Sustainable Building, a pilot program launched last year by the The Home Depot Foundation and Habitat for Humanity International, is being expanded nationwide with the goal of building 5,000 new energy-efficient homes over the next five years. The Home Depot Foundation plans to pump $30 million into the program, which provides direct grants of $3,000 to $5,000 to pay for energy efficiency measures in new homes built by Habitat for Humanity affiliates. To be eligible for the grants, homes must meet or exceed ENERGY STAR standards, with higher grant levels for higher levels of energy efficiency.
