ACCP Chief Voices Support for President Obama’s Efficiency Retrofit Initiative

Maggie L. Fox, president and CEO of the Alliance for Climate Protection, issued the following statement this week in support of President Obama’s call for home energy efficiency incentives:

As home heating bills rise, winter temperatures drop and job losses threaten, it’s clear that the time has come for a national energy efficiency upgrade. At long last we are committing to making the most out of the energy we currently produce, and we applaud President Obama and support his call on Congress to enact a common sense, proactive program for American consumers. By upgrading our homes and commercial buildings to improve their efficiency, we can create tens of thousands of new jobs here in the U.S., putting electricians, roofers, carpenters and others back to work and making a significant down payment on the creation of a new weatherization industry right here at home. It is the single easiest, cheapest and most cost-effective way to save American families hard-earned dollars and transition us to a clean energy economy that works for everyone.
