Jobs Agenda: Putting America Back to Work

Democratic Party leaders have been circulating a document that outlines a set of policy initiatives targeting near-term job creation. Under the heading “Creating Jobs Through Energy Efficiency,” the document states:

Home builders and contractors across the nation are struggling to make ends meet; homeowners are finding it hard to keep up with the rising costs of energy. Our jobs agenda will help both by putting contractors to work providing much needed energy efficiency renovations to homes and businesses. We will also create a mechanism through which affordable housing and manufacturing plants can improve their energy efficiency while ensuring renovations remain affordable for consumers and businesses.

Among the specific energy efficiency proposals, the document lists:

Home Star Residential Energy Efficiency Renovations – Will provide rebates to consumers on qualifying energy efficiency renovations and will provide thousands of contractors projects on which to work.

While this particular statement came from the Democratic Party, Efficiency First emphasizes that that energy efficiency and job creation are not partisan issues, and the association is working both sides of the aisle to gain support for HOME STAR legislation.
