GreenHomes America Partner Profiled in Construction Business Magazine

Home Performance division fuels growth for New Jersey-based Princeton Air Conditioning

Back in October we blogged a CNN news report about Efficiency First member Princeton Air Conditioning, which had launched a new Home Performance division in partnership with another member company, GreenHomes America. Princeton Air is in the news again with the publication of an article in Contracting Business magazine.

According to the article, the company was able to hire new workers and generate nearly $1.5 million in new sales within a year of getting into the Home Performance business.

“After the summer 2008 cooling season generated fewer sales than expected and we had to lay workers off,” company president Scott Needham told the magazine. “We knew we had to do something different and find new sources of revenue.” The article goes on to explain how Princeton Air’s new Home Performance division not only allowed the company to hire additional staff, but also drove additional sales to the company’s existing residential and commercial HVAC business.

The article quotes CEO Joe Needham explaining that Princeton Air’s Home Performance installation crews are booked six to eight weeks in advance, with contracts averaging more than $15,000 per customer. “In this economic downturn, that’s truly remarkable,” he said.

And here’s what the Needhams had to say to other contractors:

“Our advice is, start educating yourself now, leverage a national partner like GreenHomes America, and establish yourself as an industry expert,” says Scott. “HPC has really helped us differentiate Princeton Air from our competition and helped us grow our business in this tough economy,” adds Joe. “Home performance is a perfect fit for any HVAC contactor and is the next evolution for the HVAC industry.”
