CBPCA Seeks Executive Director
Position Description Executive Director, CBPCA
Located in the Northern California Bay Area, the Executive Director of the CBPCA reports to the CBPCA Board of Directors, and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.
In program development and administration, the Executive Director will::
- 1. Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
- 2. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
- 3. Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- 4. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and public policy issues in the Home Performance field.
In communications, the Executive Director will:
- 1. See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it.
- 2. Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals and maximize e-communications access and leverage
- 3. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with the membership, constituencies, partners and organizations.
- 4. Represent the programs and point of view of the CBPCA to agencies, organizations, and the general public.
- In relations with staff, the Executive Director will:
- 1. Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.
- 2. Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place.
- 3. See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.
- 4. Encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.
- 5. Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people.
In budget and finance, the Executive Director will:
- 1. Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.
- 2. Work with the staff, Treasurer, and the board in preparing a budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
- 3. Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.
- 4. Jointly, with the president and secretary of the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents
In relations to building and reinforcing the organization and infrastructure the Executive Director will:
- Be responsible for driving, completing and maintaining policies and procedures that can provide the day to day operational guidelines for how the organization functions and delivers on the expectations of the membership, constituencies, partners and board of directors.
- Provide clear communications and direction regarding levels and limits of authority and accountability
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience managing nonprofit corporations or trade association and have more than a cursory knowledge of contemporary construction practices. Strong administrative and planning skills are required, as well as strong verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented with a strong appreciation of the residential energy efficiency and or Home Performance industries and movements. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of how grants and public funding works in the state of California. She/he will have a willingness to travel as required in the state of California and beyond. Over five years minimum supervisory experience; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of non profits and trade associations preferred.
The ideal candidate will also understand group dynamics and how to engage strong personalities and multiple agenda while concurrently moving issues and initiatives forward to the overall benefit of the CBPCA and its mission and strategy.
A bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience is required. Salary range: $90,000-$120,000 per year with bonus opportunity of 50% based on funding results.
