Home Performance Resource Center Appointed to DOE Committee
The Home Performance Resource Center (Resource Center)– the research and publication arm of Efficiency First — has been named to a Department of Energy (DOE) Committee. The DOE along with the EPA in a joint effort, initiated by the Obama Administration, in order to speed up the process of making buildings more energy efficient created the SEE ACTION Network, to focus on State Energy Efficiency. Within the SEE Action network is a working group Residential Building Retrofits. The DOE named the Resource Center to one spot along with other leading experts across the industry. The goal of the committee is to create a roadmap for the development of residential programs throughout the country. As the group moves forward we will report more of the findings and research products. Click here for more information on the SEE ACTION group.
The ten working groups of Efficiency First are integral in the work of the Resource Center. To learn more about the Efficiency First working groups visit us at http://www.efficiencyfirst.org/take-action/best-practices/
The DOE informs us it will likely launch a pilot program on energy labeling tied to the Better Buildings program in the near future. Details of a pilot program are not yet available, but we continue to track and provide input to the DOE.

Jared,
I watch a lot of MSNBC, Fox, and Bloomberg Television on a daily basis listening to all the experts from the banking and business sectors of the economy. Why aren’t hearing from a representative or two from Efficiency First, BPI or the See Action Group on their programs bringing our message forward and bring it to the attention of the invester community? All I hear is “infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure!!! To be sure, this is important but it isn’t the sole answer to putting the 17 million of Americans back to work in relatively short order.
Your programs need to get the attention of the cable business and banking community and I have not been hearing it anywhere. You need a very good PR man or woman along with all of your planning committees and get them in front of the camera touting the benifits to both these audiences and the American people. The sooner, the better.
