Energy Efficiency Organizations in the United States: Overview and Analysis
The California Energy Efficiency Industry Council recently released a report called Energy Efficiency Organization in the United States: Overview and Analysis which looked at the different organizations working on energy efficiency on buildings in the industrial sector. The goal was to identify weaknesses in the representation of these businesses and look for opportunities to improve support for businesses within the industry. As the number of businesses in the energy efficiency increases the number of organizations that represent them is increasing at the same time.
The report looks at 200 different organizations that represent a variety of energy efficiency businesses. The report looked at the mission statements of these organizations and divided them into three categories; core, multi-foci and stakeholder. Core organizations main focus is energy efficiency and contractors in the industry. Multi-foci organizations have energy efficiency as a main focus but also work on other issues. Lastly Stake holder organizations have energy efficiency as a small portion of their overall goals.
Efficiency First is one of many organizations representing energy efficient businesses within the industry. They are noted in this report as an industry association which is also a core organization.
