California Training Reimbursement Grant

*DEADLINE: All training must be completed by September 30, 2011, to be eligible for reimbursements.*

As part of a statewide initiative to create a green workforce, Efficiency First received grant-funding from the State of California Clean Energy Workforce Training Program (CEWTP), to reimburse its member companies for employee training related to the home energy performance retrofit industry.

Certifications included under this program are offered by nationally-recognized organizations such as the Building Performance Institute (BPI), the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and the California Certified Energy Rating and Testing Services (CalCerts) Home Energy Rating System (HERS).

The program will provide Employers with a training “subsidy” in the form of a partial reimbursement of training costs 90 days after an employee successfully completes pre-approved training classes (for new hires, Employers will receive 70% immediately after completion, with the remaining 30% after the 90-day retention period).

This program is only open to members of Efficiency First. If you are not a member, please visit http://www.efficiencyfirst.org/join. In order to be eligible to participate in this state-funded training reimbursement program, all trainees must be California residents currently reporting income or earnings in California. After your information is submitted for enrollment, you or your company will be screened for eligibility.

Once you complete and submit all the necessary documentation, your company will be notified of your eligibility and only then can you enroll in the courses.

About the California Clean Energy Workforce Training Program (CEWTP):

Almost $75 million will be invested in the Clean Energy Workforce Training Program to create a well-trained workforce capable of filling the jobs necessary to promote renewable energy development, climate change strategies, vehicle fuel technology and green buildings.

The California Energy Commission, the California Employment Development Department, the Employment Training Panel, and the California Workforce Investment Board, in collaboration with The Green Collar Jobs Council, are leading a statewide partnership of state agencies, educational institutions, local workforce investment boards, community organizations and employers to deliver 21st century training programs for workers with all levels of experience.

This collaborative effort combines funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for the State Energy Program (SEP), the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program established by AB 118 (Núñez, Chapter 750, Statutes of 2007), Workforce Investment Act Governor's Discretionary funds, and private and local funds to create what's believed to be the nation's largest green job workforce development program.
